Enrichment Programs
What Is Educational Enrichment?
We at DesBois Tutoring & Enrichment are beginning to realize that most people have no understanding of what we mean by our enrichment programs. For us, these experiences are integral to a good education and as natural as breathing. They are about creating opportunities and environments that promote vigorous intellectual and artistic activity. They are joyful. They (along with books) are the antidote to screen dependency in an age where students spend more and more of their free time and school hours plugged into nameless, faceless, virtual reality technologies. Through live, in-person performance and participation, we have designed our enrichment programs to encourage students' love of learning for the sake of learning, and to expand their horizons by asking open-ended questions.
We offer the following programs, which we can bring to your school, home-school group, or organization:
The fee schedule for enrichment programs will vary according to the offering, time commitment, and resources involved.
- V is the Valley: A Conversation with the Folksongs of New England, featuring selections from the Helen Hartness Flanders Ballad Collection
- Shakespeare's Songs, a concert/lecture on the songs of Shakespeare's plays and the music they inspired
- The Western Star, an epic poem, with songs, retelling the Biblical story of the Three Kings
